I created a reference guide for Stampin' Up! punches in a printable format which I want to share with all of you for free! Just print (on vellum or other cardstock), cut (between the lines), punch and laminate! I included all the current punches, some have more than one per page, when it made sense to combine them. I found the self laminating sheets at my local dollar store (Dollarama on Hazeldean).
Featured Techniques: Linen (Faux), Negative Brayer, Spotlighting with Punches, Vintage Masking tape, Ying Yang, Crinkled Cardstock.

I have completed the instructions for printing all the various sizes and orientations of MDS cards. These instructions are for using my digital studio to print- you do NOT need to export a jpeg or use a different program to manipulate your images. This will work with any standard inkjet or color laser printer, nothing special is required.
A 3 or 4 page (including a back cover- which the MDS professional printer can't do) card can be printed by running the same one piece of cardstock through your printer twice.
One 8 1/2 x 11 page of cardstock will give you: one square (5 1/4 x 5 1/4) or 5 x 7 (portrait or landscape) card OR two 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 (portrait or landscape) cards
One 12 x 8 1/2 page (12 x 12 cut down) will give you one square 6 x 6 card
The instructions include full color screenshots of MDS, showing you exactly the steps, including page order specifications, custom margin settings to ensure the cards are aligned properly when printed back to front, and various other tricks I figured out along the way!
I have posted the instruction set for the 5 x 7 Portrait Card for free on scribd (this is the simplest version) for you to review. The other instruction sets (Five documents of 3-5 pages each) are formatted in the same manner and I've also created a summary reference chart with all critical information in one page. The whole set is available for $10. Click -->
Comment from Cindy: Thanks again!!!!!!! Well worth the $10 for the instructions!
Don’t have time to send in your card to be professionally printed by Stampin’ Up!s printer? Need that card today? Printing a card front to back on one sheet of cardstock is possible on your home printer. Just follow these guidelines!
Here are the steps for printing a 5 x 7 Portrait Card (More instructions coming for other sizes soon)
Quick Tip: to make a multi page card using the same basic template as a starter: - choose your card format (I used Designer Christmas Jingle 5 x 7 Card 3) - on 'Page arrangement' window, click on the 'add page' as many times as you want OR- once you're in your project, you can right click on the image you want and 'duplicate page' (Note- if you're printing with SU's printer, it will ony allow 3 pages, the back will be blank (white with MDS & SU logo) - Then I deleted whatever elements I didn't want on pages 2 & 3, added photos, text and stamps.
Choose Print. Select ONLY the Cover image
Click the Advanced Button
On Paper Orientation, choose Landscape (ignore any messages... we'll fix later)
On Image Layout Adjustment, choose Custom Layout In Top, Bottom enter 0.75" In Right & Left enter 0.50"
Print that page on whisper white cardstock
Chose print again, this time select only the inside two pages
On Image Layout Adjustment, choose Custom Layout it should remember what you entered above- In Top & Bottom 0.75" and Right & Left 0.50"
Click on Contact Sheet (button)
Click on Back (button) - do not choose the OK or cancel from the bottom right
Under Number of Images per sheet- make sure it's 2, then change the spacing for both vertical & horizontal to 0.00"
Now we'll fix the size... Under Size of Image area, select 5 x 7 (or enter 5 x 7 in the custom area). You should see your two inside pages looking good
Print that page on the backside of the original one... make sure you know which way to put the paper in...
Trim the top, bottom and sides, fold and VOILA! NOTES & HINTS: it will give you all sorts of 'this image size won't work' messages- ignore them. You may have to re-select some options. If you want to start over with the default print options, close your project and re-open it. You could easily print a cover and a back (in the example above, the back of the card is blank)- just use steps 6-12 twice!
Project #2: Coloring Booklet Planner ($3) This project features 6 techniques (Watercoloring, Masking, Crystal Effects, Poppin Pastels, Black Magic & Embossing) The planner is formated in the same way as the free planner, including 1/2 page instructions for your customers. It's meant to be used in conjunction with the Rolodex Basic Techniques.
Last month we celebrated the birthdays of both our sons. They are two years apart and they were born with one week between their birthdays. Needless to say this can be such a hectic time of year! Somehow I managed to squeeze in time to make cards for both the kids. As I was making them, I thought to myself...this is so silly - they won't even care!! Boy was I wrong! My youngest son was so excited about his card I had trouble getting him to open his gifts!
The inspiration for his card came from - well - the Stampin' Up Idea Book and Catalogue of course. I am always referring to the catalogue for ideas. This little project uses the Paper Piecing technique. It's a basic technique that involves cutting out and layering images. I used the Choo-Choo Stamp Set to create the card. First I stamped the engine in black and then I cleaned it and stamped it again in Bermuda Bay. I then cut the second image out and positioned it on top of the black one with Stampin' Dimensionals, so that the black wheels peek out from underneath the Bermuda Bay engine. I also made a little train track using the matching Right on Track Wheel.
What do you do with all those bits of ribbon- the ends of the rolls, samplers and the rest?
Put them in a glass jar like this one from Ikea. The mouth is large enough to fit my hand to reach that piece down at the bottom, but no so big or wide that things go missing in the middle!
I have several of these for different widths or types of ribbon!
